Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The city that steel and railroad industries built has taken on a less gritty feel in recent years. Today’s Pittsburgh is clean and mod-looking with towering glass and steel skyscrapers laid out at the point (the Golden Triangle) where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers come together to form the Ohio. Before their industries collapsed, rich industry barons blessed the city with numerous architectural and other civic gifts like libraries and museums. These days, Steel City routinely ranks at the top of America’s most livable cities and is perhaps better known for producing ketchup and other condiments than steel. On weekends, head out to the Strip District (once the home of US Steel) for the farmers market. The South Side is home to many restaurants and bars. Drop by Primanti Brothers and tackle an enormous sandwich. Then work it off on the Southside Slopes, the neighborhood’s steep hills. Stair-climb to the top for sensational city views. Or if you’re too full to move, head over to the Monongahela Incline for a funicular rail ride up Mount Washington.

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed on Nov. 21, 2008 by marcibella21
This is the first time i ever baked a homemade cheesecake. It was pretty easy. I took alot of other peoples suggestions like, doubling the filling. If I wouldnt of i wouldnt of had enough for my one pie pan i used and the few cupcake sizes. I didnt use no nuts or lemon juice. I doubled the vanilla. and it tasted great. for the crust I would of rather had gram crust instead of this. but everyone loved it and I melted chocolate and drizzed that on top. and put cinnamon on top of the chocolate, and that gave my newphew somthign to do.

Grandma's Vegetable Soup

Reviewed on Nov. 21, 2008 by NIKALANA
This was a very good soup! My husband and I really enjoyed it but my kids (ages 5 and 8) wouldn't eat it. Not sure why. I don't usually make tomato based soups, but I'm glad I gave this a try. It's hearty and very flavorful. I made a few changes. I used V8 instead of tomato juice, as some other reviewers suggested. I also used fresh green beans, cut into small pieces, instead of canned and frozen corn instead of canned. Too make up for the lost liquid, I used one can of petite diced tomatoes with liquid and some chicken broth. I will make a couple changes next time I make this. I'll add some chopped zucchini just for more veggies and I'll cut down on the amount of V8 and cut it further with chicken broth. Thanks for the recipe!

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2008 by Marcia
I thought the flavor was really good, but because of all the reviews I doubled the organge juice and soy sauce, so my sauce was not thick at all, I think I would of liked it thick better, I did use boneless chicken breast and baked for 45 min it was very juicey, and tender, I will try this recipe again.
